Question:

The curved surface area and volume of a cylinder are 924 cm² and 9702 cm³, respectively. What is the height of this cylinder?

Options:

21 cm

15 cm

7 cm

9 cm

Correct Answer:

7 cm

Explanation:

Curved surface area of cylinder ⇒ 2\(\pi \)rh = 924 cm2

Volume = \(\pi \)r2h = 9702 cm³

                       \(\frac{volume}{l.s.a.}\) = \(\frac{\pi r^2h }{2\pi rh}\)

⇒ Therefore, \(\frac{9702}{924}\) = \(\frac{r}{2}\)

⇒ r = 21

C.S.A. = 924

⇒ 2\(\pi \)rh = 924

⇒ 2 × \(\frac{22}{7}\) × h × 21 = 924

⇒ h =  \(\frac{924 × 7}{2 × 22 × 21}\) = 7 cm
