The ratio of the salary of A and B, one year ago is 3: 2. The ratio of original salary to the increased salary of A is 2: 3 and that of B is 3: 4. The total present salary of A and B together is Rs. 21500. Find the salary of B.

Options:

6,000

7,000

8,000

9,000

Correct Answer:

8,000

Explanation:

One year ago,

Ratio of salary of A & B = 3 : 2

Ratio of salary of A last year to present year = 2  :  3

Ratio of salary of B last year to present year = 3  :  4

Present year salary ratio of A to B

= 3 × \(\frac{3}{2}\)  :   2 × \(\frac{4}{3}\)

= 27  :   16

ATQ,

( 27 + 16 )R = 21500

43R = 21500

1R = 500

Salary of B = 16R = 16 × 500 = Rs. 8000
