Question:

A reduction of 15% in the price of wheat enables a housewife to buy 6 kg more for ₹2,720. The reduced price of wheat per kg (in ₹) is:

Options:

75

68

70

65

Correct Answer:

68

Explanation:

Given :-

Price is reduced by 15%

15% = \(\frac{3}{20}\)

Ratio of           old  :  new

price                20  :   17

consumption      17 : 20

( price is inversely proportional to consumption )

ATQ ,

( 20 - 17 ) R = 3R

3R = 6 kg

1 R = 2 kg

Total new consumption is  20 × 2 = 40 kg

Cost price of 40 kg = 2720

Cost price of 1 kg = \(\frac{2720}{40}\) = Rs.68 per kg
