Question:

The incomes of A and B are in the ratio 5 : 3. The expenditure of A, B and C are in the ratio 8 : 5 : 2. If C spends ₹2000 and B saves ₹700, then what amount does A save ?

Options:

₹1500

₹1000

₹2000

₹500

Correct Answer:

₹1500

Explanation:

Income, A : B = 5:3

Expenditure, A : B : C = 8:5:2

C spends = 2000

B:C = 5:2

B:2000 = 5:2

B Expenditure = 5*2000/2 = 5000

B saves = 700

B's income = 5000+700 = 5700

Expenditure,  A:B = 8:5

Exp A:5000 = 8:5

Exp A = 5000*8/5 = 8000

Income A:B = 5:3

Income A : 5700 = 5:3

Income of A = 5700*5/3 = 9500

Savings of A = 9500-8000 = 1500

The correct answer is option (1) : ₹1500
