The Trans-Siberian Railway is the main rail route of Russia, from St. Petersburg in the west to Vladivostok in the east. Some cities stand on the main line. Others are joined to it only by connecting links to the south.
(a) Irkutsk — Falls on the route. The main line passes through Irkutsk, a fur centre.
(b) Baku — Does not fall on the route. Baku is on the Caspian coast. It is reached by a connecting link, not by the main line.
