Question:

If one side of a square is increased by 35%, by what percentage another side is reduced so that its area remains same?

Options:

25\(\frac{25}{27}\)%

30\(\frac{25}{27}\)%

32%

33\(\frac{1}{27}\)%

Correct Answer:

25\(\frac{25}{27}\)%

Explanation:

Area = Side1 × Side2

*(When area is constant, then the relation b/w sides are inversely proportional)

Side1  :  20  :   27

Side2  :  27  :   20

Side2 should be reduced by = 27 - 20 = 7

So, Reduce percent = \(\frac{7}{27}\) × 100 = 25\(\frac{25}{27}\)%
