If the male population above the poverty line for State B is 2.5 million, then what is the total population of State B?

Options:

$8 \frac{2}{3}$

$7 \frac{2}{3}$

$8 \frac{1}{3}$

$10 \frac{5}{3}$

Correct Answer:

$8 \frac{1}{3}$

Explanation:

Ratio of male to female above poverty line = 2 : 3

ATQ, 2R = 2.5 million

1R = \(\frac{2.5}{2}\) = 1.25

5R = 5 × 1.25 = 6.25 million

Person above poverty online = 75% of total population of state B

ATQ,

75% of total population of state B = 6.25 million

Total population of state B = \(\frac{100}{75}\) × 6.25

= 8\(\frac{1}{3}\)
