Question:

In ΔSTU, X and Y are the points on sides ST and SU respectively XY is parallel to TU. If SX: XT = 2 : 5 and UY = 20 cm, then what is the value of SU?

Options:

24 cm

28 cm

32 cm

26 cm

Correct Answer:

28 cm

Explanation:

⇒ According to the concept

⇒ \(\frac{SX}{XT}\) = \(\frac{2}{5}\)

⇒ \(\frac{SY}{YU}\) = \(\frac{2}{5}\)

⇒ SY = \(\frac{20}{5}\) x 2 = 8 cm,

Now, the length of SU

⇒ SU + YU

⇒ 20 + 8 = 28 cm.

Therefore, the value of SU is 28 cm.
