Question:

Study the following table and answer the questions.

Percentage of marks obtained by Five students A, B, C, D and E in five subjects.

The total marks obtained by students C, D and E in Science is what percent more than the total marks obtained by B in Science, Hindi and Social Studies?

Options:

8.5%

7.5%

10.5%

13.8%

Correct Answer:

7.5%

Explanation:

Total marks of C, D and E in Science = 80 × 215% = 172

Total marks in Science, Hindi and Social Studies of B = (80 × 75%) + (75 × 68%) + (100 × 49%) = 60 + 51 + 49 = 160

Therefore,

Req. Percentage = \(\frac{12}{160}\) × 100 = 7.5%
