Question:

Study the given pie-chart and answer the question that follows.

The pie-chart represents the percentage distribution of candidates qualified in a bank examination from six different districts of a State in 2016. The total number of qualified candidates from the State is 68000.

If 22% and 20% of the qualified students from Districts B and C. respectively. were 22 years old or below. then the number of qualified students who were above 22 years from District B is what percent(to the nearest integer) of the number of qualified students who were above 22 years from District C?

Options:

60

80

67

87

Correct Answer:

87

Explanation:

Total number of candidates = 68000

Number of candidates in district B = \(\frac{25 }{100}\) × 68000

= \(\frac{1 }{4}\) × 68000

= 17000

In state B , 22% students qualified are of 22years and below from B .

Number of students qualified of 22years and above from B = \(\frac{100-22 }{100}\) × 17000

= \(\frac{78 }{100}\) × 17000

= 13260

Number of candidates in district C = \(\frac{28 }{100}\) × 68000

= \(\frac{7}{25}\) × 68000

= 19040

In state C , 20% students qualified are of 22years and below from C .

Number of students qualified of 22years and above from C = \(\frac{100-20 }{100}\) × 19040

= \(\frac{4 }{5}\) × 19040

= 15232

Required percentage = \(\frac{13260 }{15232}\) × 100

= 87.05%
