What causes the ageing of the population?

Increase in life expectancy and a decrease in the birth rate. Increase in mortality rate. Increase in infant mortality. Decrease of old age members in society.

With development, quality of life improves, and with it, life expectancy also enhanced. This changes the age structure: relatively more minor proportions of the population are found in the younger age groups and larger proportions in the older age groups. This is also referred to as the ageing of the population.
