Question:

Two trains start at same time from two stations towards each other at the speed of 22 km/hr and 18 km/hr . At the time of meeting the faster train covers 120 km more distance than other . Find the distance between two stations .

Options:

1240 km

1200 km

1120 km

1080 km

Correct Answer:

1200 km

Explanation:

Let time of travelling be t hours

Distance travelled by train with speed 22 km/hr = 22 × t = 22t

Distance travelled by train with speed 18 km/hr = 18 × t = 18t

According to question ,

Difference in distance travelled by two trains = 120 km

22t - 18t = 120

4t = 120     ⇒     t = 30

Distance between two stations is = 22t + 18t = 40 × 30 = 1200 km
