Question:

Sujatha sold 25 items for ₹1,250 and suffered a loss of 10%. How many items should she sell for ₹2,600 so that she makes a profit of 17%?

Options:

26

40

25

42

Correct Answer:

40

Explanation:

Given,

SP of 25 items = 1250

SP of 1 item = \(\frac{1250}{25}\) = 50

CP of 1 item = 50 × \(\frac{100}{90}\) = \(\frac{500}{9}\)

New SP of 1 item = \(\frac{500}{9}\) × \(\frac{117}{100}\)= 65

In Rs. 65 we can buy = 1 item

In Rs. 1 we can buy = \(\frac{1}{65}\) item

In Rs. 2600 we can buy = \(\frac{1}{65}\) × 2600 = 40 items
