Question:

The present population of a village (males and females) is 7640. If the number of males increases by 25% and the number of females increases by 15%, then the population will become 9214. The difference between the present population of males and females in the village is:

Options:

820

960

940

920

Correct Answer:

920

Explanation:

The total population of the village = 7640

Population after the change = 9214 - 7640 = 1574

Now the 25% of the population = 25% of 7640 = 1910(Male)

also 15% of the population = 15% of 7640 = 1146(Female)

Apply the alligation on the data given above,

191x = 7640(Given)

1x = 40

So, the difference between male and female = 107 - 84 = 23x = = 23 × 40 = 920
