The total amount spent on the Five commodities by the family in the year 2019 is:

Amount spent on A = 15 × 80 = 1200

Amount spent on B = 20 × 60 = 1200

Amount spent on C = 12 × 40 = 480

Amount spent on D = 40 × 85 = 3400

Amount spent on E = 8 × 72 = 576

Total amount  spent year 2019 = 1200 + 1200 + 480 + 3400 + 576
