1. A, B, C, D, E and F are six students pursuing their Master's degree in six different subjects – Economics, Accountancy, Philosophy, Psychology, Zoology and Botany.
2. Two of them stay in hostels, two stay as paying guests (PG) and the remaining two stay at their homes.
3. C does not stay as PG and studies Philosophy. A studies Accountancy.
4. The students studying Zoology and Botany do not stay in PG.
5. F studies Botany and D studies Psychology. F and D stay in hostel. E stays in PG and B stays at home.
Who studies Economics?
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 3
The correct answer is Option (3) → E
Only the subjects are needed here. Four of them are given directly; the last two follow from the clue on PG.
Clue 3: C studies Philosophy and A studies Accountancy
Clue 5: F studies Botany and D studies Psychology
Economics and Zoology are left for B and E
E stays in PG (clue 5), and the Zoology student does not stay in PG (clue 4), so E cannot study Zoology
So E studies Economics, and B studies Zoology
