Ratio of land and water on earth is 1 : 2 and ratio of land and water in northern hemisphere is 2:3. Then the ratio of land and water in southern hemisphere is:

Given = The ratio of Land & water on earth is 1 : 2 and the ratio of Land and water in the Northern Hemisphere is 2 : 3

Let the total area of the earth be 30 unit

So in the northern hemisphere area = 15 unit and in Southern hemisphere area = 15 unit

Total land = 30 × \(\frac{1}{3}\) = 10 unit

Total water = 30 × \(\frac{2}{3}\) = 20 unit

Land in the northern hemisphere = 15 × \(\frac{2}{5}\) = 6 unit

Water in the northern hemisphere = 15 × \(\frac{3}{5}\) = 9 unit

∴ The ratio of land and water in the southern hemisphere = (10 - 6) : (20 - 9) = 4 : 11
