Question:

A shopkeeper sold two articles for ₹ 15625 each. 1st is sold at 15% profit and 2nd is sold at 13% loss. Find his overall profit or loss percent.

Options:

0.94% profit

0.94% loss

1.42% profit

1.42% loss

Correct Answer:

0.94% loss

Explanation:

Profit of 15% = \(\frac{3}{20}\)

⇒ CP₁ : SP = 20 : 23

Loss of 13% = \(\frac{13}{100}\)

⇒ CP₂ : SP = 100 : 87

CP₁   :   SP     :   CP₂

20     :   23

             87    :   100

1740 :  2001  :   2300

Profit/Loss = (4002) - (1740 + 2300) =  38

Loss percent = \(\frac{38}{4040}\) × 100 = 0.94% loss
