Practicing Success
After the enactment of the Advocates Act in 1961, all previous practitioner categories (vakils, barristers, pleaders of various grades, and mukhtars) were abolished and combined into a single category that is now allowed to practice in all Indian courts. An All-India Bar Council was initially constituted by the Advocates Act. The Act established a State Bar Council in each State, consisting of 15–25 members and the Advocate General of the State as an ex-officio member. The Bar Council of India regulates the content, syllabus, duration of the law degree, subject to which, each university is free to make its own rules. |
