Question:

If cos B = $\frac{5}{7}$, what is the value of cosec B + cot B ? Given that 0 < B < $\frac{\pi}{2}$

Options:

$\frac{5}{\sqrt{6}}$

$\frac{\sqrt{6}}{12}$

$\frac{7}{\sqrt{6}}$

$\sqrt{6}$

Correct Answer:

$\sqrt{6}$

Explanation:

cosB = \(\frac{5}{7}\)

By using pythagoras theorem ,

P2 + B2 = H2

P2 + 52 = 72

P = 2√6

Now , cosec B + cot B

= \(\frac{7}{2√6 }\) + \(\frac{5}{2√6 }\)

= \(\frac{12}{2√6 }\)

= √6
