Question:

An Airline operates flight between 2 major cities and has two classes of tickets, Economy and Business.

  • Each Economy seat costs Rs. 5,000 and has 150 available seats.
  • Each Business costs Rs. 12,000 and has 50 available seats.
  • Total passenger capacity is 180.
  • Airline must cover at least Rs. 10,00,000 in operation cost.

Find the constraint of the given LPP.

Options:

$\begin{matrix}x+y≥180\\500x+12y≥1000\end{matrix}$

$\begin{matrix}x+2y≥180\\500x+24y≥2000\end{matrix}$

$\begin{matrix}500x+1200y≥10000\\x+y≤1000\end{matrix}$

$\begin{matrix}x+y≤180\\5000x+12000y≥10,00,000\end{matrix}$

Correct Answer:

$\begin{matrix}x+y≤180\\5000x+12000y≥10,00,000\end{matrix}$

Explanation:

The correct answer is Option (4) → $\begin{matrix}x+y≤180\\5000x+12000y≥10,00,000\end{matrix}$

Total seats per flight = 180

$x+y≤180$

and,

operational cost constraint is,

$5000x+12000y≥10,00,000$

$x,y≥0$ (Non-Negative constraints)
