(A) There are about 3000 varieties of rice. — Correct. Rice has about 3,000 varieties, grown in different agro-climatic regions.
(B) Traditionally, it is a crop of tropical humid areas. — Correct. Rice is considered to be a crop of tropical humid areas.
(C) Three crops of rice - aus, aman and boro are grown in green revolution area. — Incorrect. The three crops of rice, aus, aman and boro, are grown in West Bengal, not in the Green Revolution areas. NTA changed the place given in the book, and a true line became false. Read every word before you mark the answer.
(D) Dry but irrigated areas of Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh grow rice. — Correct. Rice also grows in the dry but irrigated areas of Punjab, Haryana, western U.P. and northern Rajasthan.
Note: Statement (A) is taken from an earlier edition of the NCERT book (2023-24), which gives about 3,000 varieties of rice. The latest edition (2026-27) says only that rice has many varieties. Both editions are given below for your benefit.

Though, it is considered to be a crop of tropical humid areas, it has many varieties which are grown in different agro-climatic regions. These are successfully grown from sea level to about 2,000 m altitude and from humid areas in eastern India to dry but irrigated areas of Punjab, Haryana, western U.P. and northern Rajasthan. In southern states and West Bengal the climatic conditions allow the cultivation of two or three crops of rice in an agricultural year. In West Bengal farmers grow three crops of rice called ‘aus’, ‘aman’ and ‘boro’.”
