Question:

Arrange the given words in the sequence in which they occur in the dictionary and then choose the correct sequence

1. Credential 2.Creed 3.Crease 4. Cremate 5. Credible

Options:

1,2,3,4,5

1,5,3,4,2,

5,1,2,3,4

3,1,5,2,4

Correct Answer:

3,1,5,2,4

Explanation:

In this type of question we do not need to anaylse the whole word. We start with the 1st letter of all words and then eventually go to the successive words and keep on arranging them in alphabetical order.

"Cre" is common in every word so we will start the analysis after that.

Credential has "D" after "Cre"

Creed has "E" after "Cre"

Crease has "A" after "Cre"

Cremate has "M" after "Cre"

Credible has "D" after "Cre"

As soon as we see that crease has "A" in it that means "Crease" will come 1st in the sequence and we will not check the further word, we look for the next letter that comes in the dictionary i.e. "D". We have 2 words i.e. credential and credible. Now, we would see the next letter in credential and credible after "D" it is "E" in case of credential and "I" in case of credible. Thus, as "E" comes before "I", we can say that 2nd word will be credential and 3rd will be credible. After that, all the words will be placed accordingly in the similar manner.

So, the answer is crease, credential, credible, creed, cremate.( 3,1,5,2,4)

We can also go by options i.e. once we know that 3rd word will come on the 1st position and only 4th option shows that. We can directly mark that as answer and need not check further.
