2000: Chhattisgarh
On the basis of a separate regional culture or complaints of regional imbalance in development, the states of Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Jharkhand, were created in the year 2000. Chhattisgarh was carved out of eastern Madhya Pradesh. The demand for a separate state aimed to preserve and promote the cultural and linguistic heritage of the region.
2000: Uttarakhand
On the basis of a separate regional culture or complaints of regional imbalance in development, the states of Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand, were created in the year 2000. Initially, when formed it was called Uttaranchal. In 2007 it was renamed Uttarakhand. It was formed by separating the hilly areas of northern Uttar Pradesh.
2014: Telangana
The North Western parts of Andhra Pradesh were divided to form Telangana. It is the 29th State to be formed and came into existence on 2nd June 2014.
2000: Jharkhand
On the basis of a separate regional culture or complaints of regional imbalance in development, the states of Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Jharkhand, were created in the year 2000. Jharkhand was carved out of the tribal region of Bihar in 2000. The proponents of a separate state argued that the region's socio-economic development was lagging behind due to neglect from the central government. |
