The therapeutic relationship, also known as the therapeutic alliance, refers to the special bond between a client and a therapist. It is not a casual acquaintance nor a long-term relationship. The therapeutic alliance consists of two main components. Firstly, it is a contractual relationship where the client and therapist willingly enter into a partnership to help the client overcome their problems. Secondly, the alliance is time-limited and continues until the client gains the ability to manage their difficulties and regain control of their life. This unique relationship possesses several distinctive characteristics. |
