Penicillium belongs to the Ascomycota division of fungi. Penicillium is used for the production of the antibiotic penicillin. Penicillium shows sexual as well as an asexual mode of reproduction. Asexual reproduction in Penicillium occurs by the formation of asexual spores. These spores are motile or immotile. These spores are known as conidiophores .The conidiophore after giving out conidia germinates into a new hypha. |
