The Indus Valley Civilization is commonly referred to as the Harappan culture. Archaeologists use the term “culture” for a group of objects, distinctive in style, that are usually found together within a specific geographical area and period of time. The Harappan culture is characterized by unique/distinctive objects such as seals, beads, weights, stone blades, and baked bricks. These objects have been discovered in diverse regions including Afghanistan, Jammu, Baluchistan (Pakistan), Gujarat, etc.
Coins were not a distinctive object of the Harappan culture. |
