In a hostel having 80 students, there are food provisions for 30 days. After 10 days some students left for their home and thus lasted for another 25 days. How many students left the hostel ?

Food available for = 30 days

Then the total quantity of food = 80 × 30 = 2400

After 10 days some students left now the quantity of food that is remains = 2400 - 80 × 10 = 1600

Let x students left then the remaining students = 80-x

So, now the food is for 25 days,

according to the question,

(80-x) × 25 = 1600

x = 16
