Explanation:

Sum of 10 consecutive numbers = 10 × 25 = 250

Let smallest even number = x

x + (x+2) + (x+4) + (x+6) + (x+8) + (x+10) + (x+12) + (x+14) + (x+16) + (x+18) = 250

10x + 90 = 250

10x = 160

x = 16

Even number preceding 16 = 14

So , New average = \(\frac{250 + 14}{11}\) = \(\frac{264}{11}\) = 24
