Question:

Student A got 25 marks more than the student B and the marks of A were equal to the 60 percent of the sum of their marks. What are the marks obtained by A and B respectively?

Options:

75,000

75,50

45,120

55,80

Correct Answer:

75,50

Explanation:

Let the marks secured by B = 100x

Marks secured by A = 100x + 25

Sum of their marks = 100x + 100x + 25 = 200x + 25

According to question ,

100x + 25 = 60% of sum of marks

\(\frac{3}{5}\) × (200x + 25) = 100x + 25

600x + 75  = 500x  + 125

100x = 50 marks

Marks secured by A = 50 + 25 = 75 marks

Marks secured by B = 50 Marks
