The network in the geographical area spread over countries is known as:
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 4
The correct answer is Option (4) → WAN
Computer networks are named by the area they cover. A Wide Area Network (WAN) links computers over a large geographical area such as a country or several countries, usually through leased lines, undersea cables and satellites; the Internet is the largest WAN.
Why the other options are incorrect
Option (1) LAN — Incorrect. A Local Area Network covers a single room, building or campus.
Option (2) VAN — Incorrect. A Value Added Network is a private service network that firms hire to exchange business data; it is not named for a size of area.
Option (3) MAN — Incorrect. A Metropolitan Area Network covers one city or town, larger than a LAN but far smaller than a WAN.
