Change the following sentence into an Indirect Speech :
The teacher said, "Do your work with dedication."
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 2
The correct transformation of the given sentence into Indirect Speech is: "The teacher advised him to do his work with dedication."
This is an imperative sentence (advice/instruction). In indirect speech, such sentences are usually changed using “advised / told / ordered + object + to + verb.”
-
“said” → changed to advised (because the sentence gives guidance)
-
“Do” → to do
-
“your work” → his work (pronoun changes according to the listener)
Thus, the correct indirect speech is: The teacher advised him to do his work with dedication.
