The sum of age of mother and daughter is 36 years. Four years ago, the product of their ages is equal to the five times of his mother's age at that time. Find the present age of mother and daughter.

Let present age of mother and daughter = x and y respectively . 

ATQ,

⇒ x + y = 36  and

⇒ ( x - 4) ( y - 4 ) = 5( x - 4 )

⇒ y - 4 = 5

⇒ y = 9 , and then x = 36 - y = 36 - 9 = 27

So, present age of mother = 27 years  and present age of daughter = 9 years
