36 men and 48 women can do a certain work in one day whereas 6 men and 12 women can do it in 5 days. The number of women required to do the same work in 8 days is:

Correct Answer:

Explanation:

36M + 48W = 1 day      ..(1.)

6M + 12W = 5 days,

30M + 60W                  ..(2)        (Multiplied by 5 to get it done in 1 day)

Now, (1) - (2), we get

⇒ 6M =12W

⇒ M : W = 12 : 6 = 2 : 1 (Efficiencies)

Putting efficiency in equation (1), and we get the total work

⇒ [36 (2) + 48 (1)] = 120 units.

⇒ No. of women required complete the total work in 8 days = \(\frac{120}{W(1)}\) = 8 days, 

⇒ \(\frac{120}{8}\) = Women

No. of Women required to complete the work in 8 days = 15 women.
