A car can cover a distance of 144 km in 1.8 hours. In what time(in hours) will it cover double the distance when its speed is increased by 20% ?

Correct Answer:

Explanation:

Distance = Speed × Time

Speed = \(\frac{144}{1.8}\)

Speed = 80 km/h

Now , Speed is increased by 20% = 80 + 80 × \(\frac{20}{100}\)

= 80 + 16 = 96 km/h

Now ,

Time required to cover the double the distance = \(\frac{2 × 144 }{96}\)

= 3 hour

So , The required time is 3 hours
