The average of 3 even consecutive integers is 12. What is their product ?

If the average of 3 consecutive even integers is 12, then their sum is 12 × 3 = 36

Let the three even integers be x – 2, x and x + 2.

So we get the equation as x – 2 + x + x + 2 = 36.

x = 12.

So the three integers are 10, 12 and 14.

Hence their product = 10 × 12 × 14 = 1680.

Alternate Short cut: 

The average of 3 consecutive even integers is 12, then the numbers will be : (12 - 2), 12, (12 + 2) ⇒ 10, 12, 14

Hence their product = 10 × 12 × 14 = 1680.
