The ratio between two numbers is 2 : 3. If each number is increased by 2, then the ratio becomes 3 : 4. Find the sum of the original numbers.

Options:

10

6

8

5

Correct Answer:

10

Explanation:

Ratio between two numbers is 2 : 3

So, Two numbers are 2x and 3x

If each number is increased by 2, then the ratio becomes 3 : 4

According to question  ,

\(\frac{2x + 2 }{3x + 2 }\) = \(\frac{3}{4}\)

8x + 8 = 9x + 6

x = 2

So, Sum of original numbers = 2x + 3x

= 5x

= 5 × 2

= 10
