A started a business with ₹21,000 and is joined afterwards by B with ₹36,000. After how many months did B join if the profits at the end of the year are divided equally?

We have,

Investment of A  = Rs. 21000

Investment of B = Rs. 36000

We know that,

Profit = Investment × Time

Let assume that B joined after x months.

Now, according to question if profit is divided equally:

21000 × 12 = 36000 × (12 - x)

⇒ 21 = 3 × (12 - x)

⇒ 7 = 12 - x

⇒ x = 5
