Question:

Case : Read the passage and answer the question(s).

Consider a coil C1 connected to galvanometer as shown. A magnet is placed next to the coil with its North pole facing near the coil and South facing away from the coil. The magnet is then moved towards the coil.

In context to this, answer the following question.

What is responsible for the generation of current in the coil ?

Options:

Deflection of galvanometer needle.

Movement of south pole towards the coil.

Relative motion of the coil and the magnet.

None of these.

Correct Answer:

Relative motion of the coil and the magnet.

Explanation:

Whenever there is relative motion in the coil and the magnet, the flux linked with the coil changes. This causes an EMF to develop inside the coil. This EMF is responsible for the flow of current through the coil.
