Question:

The price of gold is directly proportional to the square of its weight. It being sold after breaking in the ratio of 3 : 2 : 1 therefore earned a loss of ₹4620. The price of gold before breaking is:

Options:

₹7500

₹7460

₹7560

₹8000

Correct Answer:

₹7560

Explanation:

Price of gold = ( weight of gold)2

               I   :   II   :   III  :  Actual

weight ⇒  3   :   2    :    1   :     6

Price   ⇒  32 :   22  :   12   :     62

          ⇒  9  :   4    :    1    :     36

Now,

Actual Price = 36

Price after break = (9 + 4 + 1) = 14

Loss  = 36 - 14 = 22R

⇒ 22R = 4620 (given)

⇒  1R  =  210

Hence,

Actual Price = 36 × 210 = 7560/-
