Question:

Read the passage and answer the question.

The magnetic susceptibility of a substance is defined as the measure of how readily it responds to an external magnetic field. It gives the measure of a substance's aptness to acquire magnetism. It has no units. Mathematically, it is defined as the ratio of the intensity of magnetization to the magnetic intensity. The susceptibility of a substance is given as (2.7 x 10-5).

What is the magnetic field if the magnetic intensity is 2 x 103  A m-1 ?

Options:

2 x 10-5 A m-1

2 x 10-12 A m-1

2 x 10-3 A m-1

2 x 10-2 A m-1

Correct Answer:

2 x 10-2 A m-1

Explanation:

Magnetic field : B = μο μr H = μο (1 + X) H

X = 2.7 x 10-5 ; H = 2 x 103  A m-1

B = 2 x 10-2 A m-1
