Question:

One candidate received 60% of the total valid votes in an election between two candidates. A total of 20% of the votes were invalid. What is the number of valid votes the other candidate received if the total votes were 16250?

Options:

2990

4760

5200

5800

Correct Answer:

5200

Explanation:

80% = \(\frac{4}{5}\)  &  40% = \(\frac{2}{5}\)

Total number of valid votes = \(\frac{4}{5}\) × 16250 = 13000

Votes of looser candidate = \(\frac{2}{5}\) × 13000 = 5200

So , Votes of looser candidates = 5200
