Question:

Anu can complete a piece of work in 22 days. Shama is 60% more efficient than Anu. How many days does Shama alone take to complete the same piece of work?

Options:

$36\frac{2}{3}$

$35\frac{1}{3}$

$13\frac{1}{5}$

$13\frac{3}{4}$

Correct Answer:

$13\frac{3}{4}$

Explanation:

Given,

Anu = 22 days,

Shama is 60% more efficient than Anu, therefore,

Anu : Shama = 160 : 100 = 8 : 5  (Efficiency)

⇒ Total work = 5 x 22 = 110 days,    ..(Efficiency × Days = Total work)

⇒ Time required by Shama to complete the work alone = \(\frac{110}{8}\) = \( { 13}_{8 }^{6 } \) = \( { 13}_{4 }^{3 } \) days,     ..(\(\frac{Work}{Efficiency}\) = Time)
