Question:

If (a + b) : (b + c) : (c + a) = 5 : 6 : 7 and 4a + 3c = 48, then c is equal to ?

Options:

6

8

12

9

Correct Answer:

8

Explanation:

a + b = 5R, b + c = 6R, c + a = 7R

Adding all of above, we get:

2(a + b + c) = 18R

(a + b + c) = 9R      ...............(i)

b + c = 6R   ...........(ii)

(i) - (ii)

a = 3R, similarly b = 2R,  c = 4R

Now,

⇒  4a +  3C = 48

⇒  (4 × 3R) +  (3 × 4R) = 48

⇒  12R  + 12R = 48

⇒  24R = 48

⇒  1R = 2

 Here,

c = 4R = 4 × 2 = 8
