Note 1: The given answer is as per the official NTA Answer Key. The book does not give the year in which the Jamshedpur plant was set up. It only says that Jamshedpur grew as a town of modern industry after 1850, while it gives 1959, 1964 and 1982 for Bhilai, Bokaro and Salem. This shows that Jamshedpur is the oldest of the four.
Note 2: Items (A), (B) and (D) are taken from the pre-rationalised NCERT book. The latest edition (2026-27) does not give the years of these three plants. An extract of the pre-rationalised NCERT book is given below for the benefit of students.
