Solution

= \( { 26}^{ 2} \) - \( { 24}^{ 2} \) = \( { a}^{ 2} \)

= \( { a}^{ 2} \) = 100

= \( { a}^{ 2} \) = \(\sqrt {100 }\) = 10 cm

Therefore, the length of the third side is 10 cm.
