Question:

Two trains leave Agra for Calcutta at 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., respectively, and travel at 240 km/h and 300 km/h, respectively. How many kilometres from Agra will the two trains meet?

Options:

270 km

300 km

600 km

240 km

Correct Answer:

600 km

Explanation:

Distance = Speed × Time

Relative Speed when moves in same direction = 300 - 240 = 60 km/h

Distance traveled by 1st train from 9:00 am to 9:30 am = 240 × 0.5 = 120 km

Remaining distance = 240 - 120 = 120 km

Time when both trains meet = \(\frac{Distance}{Speed}\)

= \(\frac{120}{60}\) = 2 hours

Total distance traveled by faster train = 300 × 2 = 600 km
