To establish an instantaneous displacement current of 2A in the space between two parallel plates of 1µF capacitor, the potential difference across the capacitor plates will have to be changed at the rate of:

$I_D=\varepsilon_0 \frac{d \phi_E}{dt}=\varepsilon_0 \frac{d}{dt}(EA)=\varepsilon_0 A \frac{d}{dt}\left(\frac{V}{d}\right)$

$I_{D}=\frac{\varepsilon_0 AdV}{d} \frac{dV}{dt}=C \frac{dV}{dt}$

∴  $\frac{dV}{dt}=\frac{I_D}{C}=\frac{2}{10^{-6}}$ = 2 × 10⁶ V/s
