Who was the propounder of the Big Bang Theory?
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 3
The correct answer is Option (3) → Georges Lemaître
The Belgian priest and astronomer Georges Lemaître proposed in 1927 that the universe is expanding, and in 1931 that it began from a single, extremely dense “primeval atom” which expanded outwards. This idea came to be called the Big Bang Theory; Edwin Hubble's finding (1929) that galaxies are moving apart supported it. Its rival, the Steady State Theory, was put forward in 1948 by Hermann Bondi, Thomas Gold and Fred Hoyle.
