Question:

The concept of fundamental duties in the Constitution of India was taken from:

Options:

Germany

Australia

USA

USSR

Correct Answer:

USSR

Explanation:

The correct answer is Option 4 - USSR

The feature of fundamental duties in the Indian Constitution is adopted from the Constitution of the former Soviet Union (USSR). The idea of including fundamental duties in the Indian Constitution was inspired by the Soviet Union's Constitution, which also contained provisions outlining the responsibilities of citizens towards the state and society.

Fundamental Duties are a set of moral obligations and responsibilities that are enshrined in Part IV-A (Article 51A) of the Indian Constitution. These duties were added by the 42nd Amendment Act, 1976, on the recommendations of the Swaran Singh Committee.

There are originally ten Fundamental Duties listed in Article 51A. However, the 86th Amendment Act, 2002, added a new duty, making it a total of eleven duties.
